Hello!

So you want to know more ...

Keep reading if you dare!

I keep discovering new people and places with and in which to nourish artistic relationships.

So, I'm deciding to grow my skills rather than to narrow them to turn into the copy-and-paste candidate large companies look for. Will that mean I'm overlooked for certain roles? Maybe. Thus, I'm working to intentionally connect with people who share my values and will challenge the quality and reach of my skillset.

At the moment, the things I most enjoy (in no particular order) are:

  • Arranging music for vocal ensembles;

  • Beginning, organizing, and executing long- and short-term projects;

  • Teaching individuals and ensembles to sing and gain music literacy;

  • Grant-writing and maintaining organized, detailed spreadsheets; and

  • Studying and singing art, theater, and pop music.

In the past, I've dabbled (and, in most cases, excelled, if I may say so) in the following:

  • Monitoring, First AD-ing, and Producing short films for film competitions;

  • Playing and performing electric bass, mostly for funk and pop songs;

  • Playing classical violin (for 13 years);

  • Assembling resource guides and disseminating them throughout varying communities;

  • Writing policy proposals;

  • Writing and compiling short and long research and argumentative essays;

  • Graphic design;

  • Writing rap verses;

  • Managing a nonprofit organization which puts on an annual run to raise funds for a South African school;

  • Narrating audiobooks;

  • Performing in musical theater productions;

  • Composing and rendering Latin poetry;

  • Organizing physical and online community libraries as well as sheet music collections;

  • Planning and carrying out small and large events, including interior decorating;

  • And more? Unclear how much further I should go ...

Within and between my past and present interests, I trust you can derive qualities central to myself as a person, creative, and professional — I am driven by the need to curate and inspire collaborative, creative, community spaces by maintaining close attention to easily forgotten minutiae. I want to start Arts projects with you, drum up an audience, perform alongside our main acts, and comprise strong outcome reports so we can safely move onto the next thing without forgetting the previous one. Along the way, I will make sure we accomplish everything we set out to conquer. If we can't, I'm going to keep detailed notes documenting our shortcomings to give the next artist a leg-up.

That's a lot, I know. Lord forbid a fella be complex, multifaceted, and hesitant to be summed up in algorithmic buzzwords! For an attempt, however, take a peek at my resume on the next page.
